Who needs oil? World's largest solar power plant with 258,000 mirrors opens in Abu Dhabi

You might think that as one of the world's top oil producing nations, the United Arab Emirates would have little use for solar energy.
But that hasn't stopped the Middle East state from unveiling the largest concentrated solar power plant in operation anywhere in the world.

The 100-megawatt solar-thermal project in Abu Dhabi will power thousands of homes in the country and, it is hoped, displace approximately 175,000 tons of CO2 per year.
The $600million (£398million) project dubbed Shams 1 took three years to build. Incorporating the latest in parabolic trough technology, the plant features more than 258,000 mirrors mounted on 768 tracking parabolic trough collectors, covering an area of 2.5 sq/km, or 285 football fields.

By concentrating heat from direct sunlight onto oil-filled pipes, Shams 1 produces steam, which drives a turbine to generate electricity.

In addition, the solar project uses a booster to heat steam as it enters the turbine to dramatically increase the cycle's efficiency. 

HAARP Facility Shuts Down

The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) — a subject of fascination for many hams and the target of conspiracy theorists and anti-government activists — has closed down. HAARP’s program manager, Dr James Keeney at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico, told ARRL that the sprawling 35-acre ionospheric research facility in remote Gakona, Alaska, has been shuttered since early May.
“Currently the site is abandoned,” he said. “It comes down to money. We don’t have any.” Keeney said no one is on site, access roads are blocked, buildings are chained and the power turned off. HAARP’s website through the University of Alaska no longer is available; Keeney said the program can’t afford to pay for the service. “Everything is in secure mode,” he said, adding that it will stay that way at least for another 4 to 6 weeks. In the meantime a new prime contractor will be coming on board to run the government owned-contractor operated (GOCO) facility.

Zimmerman Prosecutor Angela Corey Indicted for Allegedly Falsifying Arrest Warrant

The George Zimmerman defense has recently gotten a lucky break. Angela Corey, Florida’s state attorney and the prosecutor against Zimmerman, has been indicted by a citizens’ grand jury for allegedly falsifying an arrest warrant and the complaint that led to Zimmerman being charged with the second-degree murder of Trayvon Martin.
The indictment accuses Corey of allegedly withholding photographs of Zimmerman’s head after the incident. Also, Corey allegedly falsely signed an arrest warrant under oath without including the pictures as evidence. Critics claim that Corey rushed the arrest warrant through because activists were rallying around the Trayvon Martin shooting, demanding that Zimmerman be charged with murder. Critics argue that Corey was attempting to secure a reelection with the support of the activists.
Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz stated that Corey’s actions were unethical and illegal.
The outcome of this indictment could fundamentally affect the outcome of the George Zimmerman trial. At the very least, the indictment makes the prosecution look week and overly ambitious. At worst, the state could lose its prosecutor. Also, it could lead to the court throwing out Zimmerman’s case completely. Criminal charges that were filed under a falsified, illegal arrest warrant will have a hard time standing up in court.

A court in London has sentenced seven members of a Muslim child grooming (sex trafficking) gang based in Oxford to at least 95 years in prison for raping, torturing and trafficking British girls as young as 11. So now the chorus begins of apologists and nimrod Westerners denying the truth about Islam. Proof is on my side …

FBI director admits that the bureau has gone soft on Islamic jihad terror

Homeland Insecurity: If there's any doubt the FBI's gone soft on Islamic terror and may be overlooking more Boston-style plots, witness the bureau chief's recent Hill testimony. In a testy exchange with Republican lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee, FBI Director Robert Mueller reluctantly acknowledged FBI counterterrorism training materials have been purged of references to "jihad" and "Islam" and that counterterrorism agents have been restricted from doing undercover investigations at mosques.
These outrageous policies likely contributed to the FBI missing signs of radicalization in the Muslim community — including that of the Tsarnaev brothers in Boston. The marathon bombers operated in plain sight of the FBI before killing three and wounding 260.

Mueller confirmed that instead of investigating the militant Boston mosque where the bomber brothers were radicalized, the FBI partnered with it for political "outreach."

And considering the sheer volume of rings — hundreds of Muslim men — of course the mosque and their religious clerics were involved. Jihad is promoted in the mosque as well. In all cases, the perpetrators were Muslim men and the victims were underage non-Muslim girls.

WEST SEATTLE — On any given night in Seattle, there are 1,000 young people with no safe place to sleep. It’s estimated that one in three of them will be lured into prostitution within 48
hours of leaving home.

“The next thing you know, they’re in someone’s home who is requiring this of them for a safe place to sleep and from there the dark path begins,” said Melinda Giovengo, Executive Director of YouthCare.

It happened to a 16-year-old girl in West Seattle. She was kicked out of her house and a friend said she could stay with her and 32-year-old Yussuf Abdulle at an apartment in the 8400 block of Delridge Way SW.

Investigators said Abdulle made the girls have sex with different men three to seven times a day and drugged them with marijuana, ecstasy and methamphetamine. The victim told police Abdulle would sleep near the door of the apartment with a gun and told her there would be a price to pay if she tried to leave.

Remember all those promises President Barack Obama made when he was trying to sell his ObamaCare bill of goods to the American people? He said you'd keep your plan, keep your doctor, not change anything when his plan went into effect. Now it's becoming clear that that might not be entirely true. You might not be able to keep anything once ObamaCare going into effect, perhaps not even your job itself the company lays you off and offers you a part-time job instead so they won't have to pay for your health insurance costs.
This article now reports you may not be able to keep your doctor. It says, “As Obamacare was being pushed through Congress in 2010, the Obama administration and its allies were unequivocal in two claims: If you like your doctor and you like your current health care plan, you can keep them both.  HHS Secretary Kathleen Sibelius and then-House speaker Nancy Pelosi backed the president fully in this regard. The White House even went so far as to post a “Health Insurance Reform Reality Check” on its website, where “Linda Douglass of the White House Office of Health Reform debunks the myth that reform will force you out of your current insurance plan or force you to change doctors.”
The president himself said, “Here is a guarantee that I’ve made. If you have insurance that you like, then you will be able to keep that insurance. If you’ve got a doctor that you like, you will be able to keep your doctor. Nobody is trying to change what works in the system. We are trying to change what doesn’t work in the system.”
Now we are you told you may...or may not be able to keep your doctor depending on what plan you are on.
Once again we were lied to.

Pakistan: Christian man gets life term for sending blasphemous SMSs

A Christian man in Pakistan's Punjab province has been sentenced to life imprisonment for sending blasphemous mobile phone text messages to some Muslim clerics.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Mian Shahzad Raza of Toba Tek Singh district slapped the sentence and a Rs 2 lakh fine on Sajjad Masih yesterday.
Masih, a resident of Pak pattan district, was arrested in December 2011 for allegedly sending blasphemous mobile phone messages to Muslim clerics of Gojra in Toba Tek Singh, some 200 kilometres from Lahore.
The judge heard the case in the district jail and handed down the sentence to Masih after several ulemas (clerics) of Gojra testified against him.

Shakedown Artist Jesse Jackson Says Boycott Florida -- I Say ‘Buycott’

Jesse Jackson appeared on CNN to call for a boycott Florida campaign because of the George Zimmerman acquittal. Instead of boycotting Florida, I’m taking a trip next week for a “buycott.”[1] I’m going to help the state as I buy something at the airport, rent a car, buy gasoline, eat at restaurants, and who knows what else. I’ll do more for the poor people of Florida than Jackson will.
Jackson described Florida as an “apartheid state.”

“As the heat keeps rising on this crisis, Trayvon is a symbol of a deeper malady. It’s Trayvon in Florida, it’s Oscar Grant in . . . Oakland, it’s Diallo in New York . . .  At some point the president must offer the moral leadership he has to offer. . . . No doubt, the inclination is to boycott Florida, to stop conventions, to isolate Florida as a kind of apartheid state given this whole Stand Your Ground law. Homicides against blacks have tripled since this law has been in existence.”

The most dangerous city for blacks is Chicago, and it’s not because of a “Stand Your Ground” law. It’s not white people killing young blacks; it’s young blacks killing young blacks. It’s more dangerous in Chicago for blacks than soldiers in the war zones of Afghanistan.

Teenage intern short-circuits entire White House press system by asking simple question

16-year-old Daily Caller intern Gabe Finger was called upon to ask a question of White House press secretary Jay Carney on Wednesday.  The question he asked was, “Because of the death threats being received by George Zimmerman and his parents, is the President going to take any action for their security, or are they on their own?”
This happens to be a question I’ve been asked myself.   Not only Zimmerman himself, but also his parents, have gone into hiding due to death threats from the Mostly Peaceful Protesters.  Instead of muttering about how everyone should use their voices and show a little restraint, the Administration should be making it clear that these law-abiding American citizens will be protected by their titanic mega-government.  If the Leviathan State can send a SWAT team to raid a guitar company whose CEO just happens to donate money to Barack Obama’s opponents, surely they can cut a few guys loose to protect a family menaced by credible death threats.  If the government was doing right by George Zimmerman, he’d be able to walk down any street in America with a big smile on his face, and anyone who tried to harm him would be looking at the end of life as they knew it.  That’s what separates civilization from barbarian anarchy.

The U.S. Government Will Borrow Close To 4 Trillion Dollars This Year

When you add maturing debt to the new debt that the federal government is accumulating, the total is quite eye catching.
You see, the truth is that the U.S. government must not only borrow enough money to fund government spending for this year, it must also "roll over" existing debt that has reached maturity. Of course the government never actually pays any of that debt off. Instead, it essentially takes out new debts to cover the old ones. So the U.S. government is actually borrowing far more money each year than most Americans realize. For fiscal year 2013, the U.S. budget deficit will be about $845 billion, but on top of that the government will also have to borrow about 3 trillion dollars to pay off old debt that is maturing. Overall, the U.S. government will borrow close to 4 trillion dollars this year, and that number will likely be even higher next year. That is not going to cause a crisis as long as interest rates stay super low, but if interest rates begin to rise substantially, the game will change dramatically.
When the government borrows money, it has to pay it back someday. Back in the old days, the federal government used to issue lots of debt that would not mature for a very long time. But in recent years things have been very different...

In order to fund the government, the Treasury Department periodically auctions Treasury securities with various maturities ranging from 30-day Treasury bills to 30-year Treasury bonds, with 2-3-5-7-year and 10-year Treasury notes in between. It used to be that the bulk of Treasury borrowing was done in the longer-term instruments with maturities of at least 10 years.
