US Nimitz aircraft carrier 'headed closer to Syria'

The USS Nimitz aircraft carrier is moving westward toward the Red Sea, although it has not yet received orders to support a potential US strike on Syria, ABC News reported Monday.
The Nimitz carrier strike group, which includes a guided missile cruiser and four destroyers, was kept in the Indian Ocean for a "prudent responsible decision," an official told the television channel.
A defense official confirmed to AFP that the carrier was in the region but declined to give a specific location.
"Overlap of Navy vessels is routine as responsibilities are passed and the number of ships in a given area of responsibility vary," the official said.
"However, we are preserving options by keeping some additional ships in the region to include the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier."
The nuclear-powered carrier was set to head back to its home port in Everett, Washington, after a months-long deployment to the Arabian Sea when it reportedly received orders to stay in the area.

NATO stresses strong Syria response needed

BRUSSELS (AP) — NATO's chief says he is convinced that the Syrian government used chemical weapons against its people and insists a strong reaction is needed to show dictators around the world that such weapons cannot be used with impunity.
NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said Monday that the alliance would remain a strong defender of Turkey in case the member state was attacked as part of the Syria crisis, and NATO would remain a forum for allies to consult about action. He says that, at the moment, he does not see an additional NATO role.
Rasmussen insisted that "personally I am convinced, not only that a chemical attack has taken place ... but I am also convinced that the Syrian regime is responsible."

Islam holds a woman in high esteem and it’s horrible to witness great degradation of women when Muslim clerics encourage women for sex jihad!
The authenticity of the news is dubious but few weeks ago reports emerged on Arabic media about another fatwa enforced on Muslim women to travel to Syria and sexually sacrifice their bodies to Islamist Jihadis fighting over there to overthrow the secularist Assad government.
Saudi Shiekh Muhammad Al-Arifi apparently called on Arab and Muslim women to pleasure their fighter brothers and guarantee a place in heaven for themselves. Several young Tunisian Muslim girls according to media reports answered his call and made their way to Syria to be ‘sex-jihadis’.
This news of Muslim girls prostituting themselves might be shocking to some but some Islamic clerics have been permitting things via Fatwas that are not allowed in Islam and the disturbing part is that all of this is happening in the name of Jihad and religion.
Previously Al-’Arifi and some other Muslim clerics permitted jihadists to rape Syrian women. Another cleric named Habib bin Omar bin Salim said that sitting on a chair is prohibited for a practicing Muslim woman because the Jinnat (spiritual creatures) can then perform sexual acts on a woman.
If this news is true then it wouldn’t be wrong to ask these Muslim clerics, why is it all about women and sex and why is it so important to them?  These fatwas degrading women in Islam can be nothing but there obsession with sex!

Rand Paul to Kerry: Remember 1971 Anti-War Testimony


Sen. Rand Paul on Sunday paraphrased a younger John Kerry, who in 1971 testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, had asked, "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?"

"I would ask John Kerry, how can you ask a man to be the first one to die for a mistake?" Paul, a Kentucky Republican, said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Kerry, then a member of Vietnam Veterans Against the War, today serves as Secretary of State and is making the case for hitting Syria with missile strikes over its use of chemical weapons on civilians.

"I would ask John Kerry, do you think that it's more likely or less likely that chemical weapons will be used again if we bomb Assad?" Paul said. "I think all of the bad things you can image are all more likely if you get involved in the Syrian civil war."

Paul said he wishes Kerry would remember from his youth how awful war is, and that it shouldn't be a desired outcome.

If Russia and China had been brought into the diplomatic process long ago, he said, Syrian President Bashar Assad would likely have been removed from power already.

Paul said he fears the Syrian civil war may escalate out of control if America gets involved. While Assad is definitely not on America's side, Paul said, "I'm not convinced anybody on the Islamic side, the Islamic rebels, will be American allies."

President Barack Obama said Saturday he will seek Congress' input on taking action. Paul predicted the Democratic-controlled Senate would "rubber stamp" the request, but said the House, led by Republicans, were more likely to be "at least 50/50."

Kerry, appearing earlier on the show, would not say definitively whether Obama would act if Congress votes against authorization of military action. Paul said Kerry "waffled" and "wobbled" on the answer.

Whispers growing in D.C. of the possibility Libyan chemical weapons were part of the gunrunning operation out of Benghazi. Small amount to be used by rebel forces to create favor among American public for a more “robust” military intervention. I first heard this version three weeks ago. I resisted the scenario, but was told Assad had no reason to use those weapons and in such a small amount. For what purpose? He is apparently winning the civil war by a wide margin. Rebel forces were disintegrating. Russia was providing continued support. Why do something that had no logistical benefit but would only give the United States reason to intervene?

Libya had stores of such weapons. From Benghazi to Turkey and then to the Syrian rebel forces which are for the most part being led by Al-Qaeda and factions of the Muslim Brotherhood. Know you have felt there was something similar to this situation going on with Benghazi. Was that feeling sourced by someone I’m not aware of? A London judge has refused to let a Muslim woman in a full face-covering burqa to enter a plea until she showed her face to the court. 

Clarion Project (h/t Susan K)  After a Muslim women refused to lift her headbag and reveal her face in a British court, the judge told the woman she would not be able to enter a plea because there is no way to tell if the woman charged is the woman behind the veil. 

Judge Peter Murphy said the principle of open justice overrode the 21-year-old woman’s religious beliefs and warned there was a risk a different person could go into the dock pretending to be her. The woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is facing charges of intimidating a witness.

The defendant countered that she could not remove the veil in front of men because of her religious beliefs. Judge Murphy responded by saying, “It is necessary for this court to be satisfied that they can recognize the defendant. While I obviously respect the right to dress in any way she wishes, certainly while outside the court, the interests of justice are paramount. I can’t, as a circuit judge, accept a plea from a person whose identity I am unable to ascertain.”

He then added, “It would be easy for someone on a later occasion to appear and claim to be the defendant. The court would have no way to check on that.” The woman’s lawyer told the court the woman was not prepared to lower her veil at all while men were in the room. “In front of women, it is not an issue,” she said, “It is simply men that she will not allow to see her face.”

The judge added, “There is the principle of open justice and it can’t be subject to the religion of the defendant whether the principle is observed or not.

NC Shariah ban becomes law without governor’s signature despite CAIR pressure

A North Carolina bill prohibiting judges from considering foreign laws, including Islamic Shariah, became part of the state’s official statutes Monday, without Gov. Pat McCrory’s signature. The bill was one of 34 passed by the General Assembly over the summer.
McCrory signed the other 33 bills, calling the anti-Shariah measure “unnecessary” but declining to veto it.. North Carolina is the seventh state with such a law. Arizona, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Tennessee all have similar laws in place according to Religion News.
Christian and family groups supported the bill as a way to protect the Constitution without intrusion of rules and regulations from other cultures.
Muslims opposed the bill saying it was motivated by intolerance and it could infringe on other religious groups. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) sent out a national “action alert,” urging Muslims to call and email McCrory, to ask him to veto the bill.
