18,709 VA Employees Make $180,000 or More

(CNSNews.com) -- The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has 59,297 employees – 17.3 percent out of 342,089 workers total -- that make $100,000 or more in yearly salary, according to data from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Among those employees, 18,709 of them earn a salary of $180,000 or more.
An OPM database, FedScope, contains historical data on the federal civilian workforce going back to 1998. The database holds information about civilian federal workers employed by most Executive Branch agencies (excluding intelligence agencies, the White House, and the Office of the Vice President) and some Legislative Branch agencies. It does not include employees of the Judiciary Branch or congressional staff.
The database includes the numbers for federal workers at varying “salary levels,” set out in $10,000 increments, ranging from “less than 20,000” dollars to the highest level of “180,000 or more” dollars in annual salary.

Then, in a scene far removed from the pomp and luxury he enjoyed during five years in the Elysée Palace, he was unceremoniously charged with ‘active corruption’, ‘influence peddling’ and ‘violating the professional secrecy’ of an active judicial inquiry.

This Libyan devout jihadi was read his Miranda rights — which give him the right to remain silent to avoid self-incrimination, a U.S. official told CNN.
“I have serious concerns that conducting a rushed interrogation on board a ship and then turning Abu Khatallah over to our civilian courts risks losing critical intelligence that could lead us to other terrorists or prevent future attacks,” Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-New Hampshire, said in a statement Saturday.
This Muslims murderer had one personal request — a Koran, and Halal foods. I would serve this pig pork at every meal.


Ramadan jihad: Egypt moves to restrict Ramadan sermons


One has to wonder how the Islamic supremacists and Islamic apologists explain this. So many mosques, so many *cough* misunderstanders of Islam. “Some 12,000 independent preachers have been barred from delivering sermons.”
That sure is a lot of devout misunderstanders.
But if Egypt restricts its sermons only to faith and morality, then there will be …..jihad.
Monitor the mosques — that’s what we should be doing, but terror-linked groups like CAIR, MSA, ISNA have infiltrated and disabled most of our defense mechanisms.

Egypt moves to restrict Ramadan sermons, Associated Press, June 29, 2014

CAIRO (AP) — Egypt will restrict sermons during the holy month of Ramadan to topics of faith and morality, the state’s top official in charge of religious affairs said Sunday, in the latest measure by the government to control mosques and limit access of opponents to them.
The announcement is yet another move by authorities to crackdown on supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood, and limiting in the process free speech in the deeply polarized country.
Mohammed Mokhtar Gomaa said the decision should ensure that sermons during Islam’s holy month of fasting “unite people, not divide them.” He said the religious speech had been “hijacked” for political purposes, in reference to the previous government, led by Islamist President Mohammed Morsi.
“The religious speech was politically driven, which affected the moral side,” he told reporters at a news conference on the first day of the observance. “Now we’re in a race against time trying to restore morals.”
Morsi was ousted last year following mass protests against him denouncing his group’s attempt to monopolize power. The military removed Morsi, and its chief, Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, was elected president earlier this month.
In his campaign, el-Sissi stressed that religious discourse needs to be restructured, saying a free for all interpretation of religion has helped spread extremism. Islamist groups rely on mosques to recruit new members and also rally for political positions ahead of votes.
Since Morsi’s ouster, religious authorities moved to purge mosques from preachers deemed supportive of Islamists and have set guidelines for Friday sermons.
Gomaa said new regulations will also specify what the sermons will address in Ramadan, when more worshippers than usual spend time in mosques, praying and listening to religious lessons. Ramadan is the time Muslims believe God started to reveal the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad, and for believers, it is a time of reflection and worship, remembering the hardships of others and being charitable.
The ministry has also set new rules to regulate a Ramadan tradition – one where many people spend the last ten days of the month inside mosques, praying, fasting and reading the Quran. The Brotherhood and other Islamist groups often used the retreat for recruitment.
The ministry’s website said that this year, the stay would be allowed only in central mosques under the supervision of a state-authorized cleric. The buildings will only host people who live in the immediate neighborhood.

George W. Bush Says, “Build the Damn Thing” on Keystone Pipeline

George W. Bush wasn’t anywhere close to perfect as president, but there’s no question that a growing number of Americans would take him as president over our current Commander in Chief.
Now, he’s calling out the Obama administration for its refusal to build the Keystone XL Pipeline.
Bush told a group of energy executives at a Pittsburgh luncheon that he thinks the “goal of the country ought to be, ‘How do we grow the private sector?’”
“If private-sector growth is the goal and Keystone pipeline creates 20,000 new private-sector jobs, build the damn thing,” he said.
The Washington Examiner writes:

The State Department says the proposed Canada-to-Texas pipeline would create 42,100 direct and indirect positions — about 3,900 of them being construction jobs — during the two-year construction phase. The agency says it would contribute 35 permanent jobs after construction.

President Obama has called into question the number of jobs Keystone will provide, and he has said that he won’t sign off on any project that “significantly exacerbates” CO2 emissions.

New York Healthcare Premiums Are About To Explode

Insurance companies operating in New York State's marketplace are expected to ask for double-digit premium hikes next year, according to new filings from the companies. 

Capital New York reports the average requested increase was 13%. The New York Post reports that number at about 12%. But the bigger insurers are seeking a bigger premium hike — according to Capital, the six most popular plans in New York are requesting an average increase of almost 15%. 
The Post reports that Excellus Health Plan, which has about 24,000 customers, is requesting a 19.7% hike. MVP Health Plan, which has nearly 33,000 customers, is seeking a 19% increase. New York's largest insurer — Health Republic Insurance of New York, which has 68,000 customers — is requesting a 15% increase.
The requests from states are being closely watched, after the end of the first open-enrollment period of the Affordable Care Act. According to the reports, insurers cited a number of reasons for the proposed premium hikes in their filings, including rising medical costs, having a sicker and/or older pool of customers, and new regulations and taxes levied by Obamacare.

President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program is causing havoc among border states who are being overrun by minors, unaccompanied by adults, crossing the border illegally.
Emergency shelters across states like Texas and Arizona are filling to the brim, as authorities are not allowed to deport these children and send them back to their families.
Former Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin believes Obama put this program in place to create the current crisis in hopes of using it for political advantage.

House Republicans are now calling on the President to take the crisis head on by ending this program and enforcing current immigration laws.
There are 33 GOP lawmakers who have taken a stand against the DACA program, and are hoping the pressure they put on the president will force him to take action.

In response to the ongoing flood of unaccompanied immigrant minors illegally crossing the nation’s southern border, 33 Republican congressmen, lead by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), are pressing Obama to roll back policies and perceptions that they say have helped spur the onslaught.
“As our country faces an unprecedented surge in the arrival of unaccompanied alien children (UACs) at our southwestern border, we call on you to immediately end the failed policies that encourage young individuals to put themselves in peril, leave their home countries, and make a long and dangerous journey to enter our country illegally,” they wrote Wednesday in a letter to Obama.
Since October, more than 52,000 unaccompanied minors have been detained illegally crossing the southern border — many telling Border Patrol agents that they came because they believe they will be able to stay.
According to the GOP congressmen, the president must take the crisis on by first ending the DACA program — which shields certain illegal immigrants from deportation and allows them to live and work in the U.S. — “to send a clear signal to all individuals that our immigration laws will be enforced.”
Further, they call on Obama to “make an explicit public commitment that you will not support legislation that extends legal status to the newly arriving illegal aliens no matter the age.”

School board president rips Michelle O over lunch program: She was ‘elected by no one’

MUSKEGO, Wis. – There’s growing heartburn over federal school lunch regulations and now school board members are lashing out at First Lady Michelle Obama, the champion of the program overhaul.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports:

“We believe that proper food nutrition and meal portion guidelines are best decided at a local level,” said Rick Petfalski, School Board president for the Muskego-Norway School District.

Opting out of the program means Muskego-Norway will no longer receive federal money for its meals, but it also means the district is free to serve whatever it wants.

Already losing money because fewer kids were buying the meals, the district will now have to cover the cost of free and reduced lunches on its own. It will do this partly by spending less on foods that students don’t eat and — they believe — increasing the number of kids buying lunches by providing tastier meals.

Under the school lunch program regulations, Petfalski said, the district’s food service was projected to be headed toward a $54,000 deficit. By opting out — and presumably selling more food — he expects about a $7,100 surplus.

“By leaving the program we will not be required to follow these onerous guidelines, pushed by and large by Michelle Obama, who last I checked has been elected by no one,” Petfalski said. (emphasis added)

The great irony is that Petfalski’s district will actually net more money by turning down the federal reimbursements.
Meanwhile, Waterford Graded superintendent Christopher Joch told the paper, “There was a lot of waste.”
He added, “The food ended up in the garbage instead of the kids’ mouths.”
The chorus of complaints is only likely to increase as the feds up their regulations by cutting sugary and fatty snacks, effective July 1.
At least one district – the Edmonds School District in Washington – has banned cupcakes for birthday celebrations.

Chinese Military Creates High-Level Cyber Intelligence Center

Strategic cyber intelligence group within Communist Party’s all-powerful military organ revealed

The Chinese military revealed this week that it has set up a high-level cyberspace intelligence center amid growing concerns around the world over Beijing’s aggressive cyber espionage.
Disclosure of the new military cyber spying center followed unprecedented U.S. charges in May against five Chinese military hackers who prosecutors say engaged in widespread theft of American corporate and trade secrets through cyber espionage.
The creation of the People’s Liberation Army Cyberspace Strategic Intelligence Research Center was disclosed Monday in the official military newspaper PLA Daily.
The center is part of the General Armaments Department, whose cyber spies “will provide strong support in obtaining high-quality intelligence research findings and help China gain advantage in national information security,” the PLA Daily reported.
The Armaments Department is the chief military organ of the Communist Party’s all-powerful Central Military Commission (CMC). As part of the CMC, the cyber intelligence center will wield enormous power over both personnel and budgets within the Chinese military, intelligence, and government bureaucracy.
“The center is designed to become an authoritative research resource for Internet intelligence, build a highly-efficient cyberspace dynamically-tracking research system, provide high-end services for hot and major issues, and explore approaches of intelligence analysis as well as identification and appraisal with cyberspace characteristics,” the newspaper said.
Cyber intelligence work will include academic exchanges, conferences, published reports and translation services with the goal of expanding the center’s influence in cyberspace research.
Few details were provided on the structure and function of the cyber-spying center. However, the center will rely on cyber specialists involved in both “situation awareness” and research. Situation awareness is a term used by militaries to describe intelligence-gathering on the Internet and against information systems.
Experts who will operate the center include strategic theorists, intelligence analysts, and technology specialists.
An inaugural ceremony for the center was held June 26 where cyber warfare experts presented remarks on “cyberspace strategic situation evaluation and countermeasures.”

African leaders grant themselves immunity from war crimes

African leaders have granted themselves and their allies immunity from prosecution for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide at the Union’s Court, as they voted in support of the amendment at the African Union Summit.
Incumbent leaders and senior government officials suspected of committing genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity will not be charged or tried by the Union’s Court of Justice and Human Rights, created by the 54-nation African Union (AU) six years ago.
The vote took place on Friday in Equatorial Guinea, but news of the outcome of the summit appeared only this week, according to Amnesty International. It has been reported that journalists were expelled from last week’s voting.
Among a number of legal instruments agreed at the meeting was the “Protocol on Amendments to the Protocol on the Statute of the African Court of Justice and Human Rights.”
The document, objected to by forty-two African and international civil society and rights groups, reads that “No charges shall be commenced or continued before the Court against any serving African Union Head of State or Government, or anybody acting or entitled to act in such capacity, or other senior state officials based on their functions, during their tenure of office,” as cited by Amnesty International.
The amendment, however, vaguely identified “senior officials.”
The African leaders’ decision was criticized by Amnesty, which said the move was a step “backwards in the fight against impunity and a betrayal of the victims who suffered serious human rights abuses.” 

Rick Perry to Obama: Come to the border

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Wednesday that President Barack Obama must visit the Texas southern border to see the immigration crisis for himself.
“If he doesn’t come to the border, I think it’s a real reflection of his lack of concern of what’s really going on there,” Perry said on FOX News’ “FOX and Friends,” noting that Obama is planning to be in Texas next week for fundraisers.

“If the President of the United States is really serious about securing that border, we can show him how to do that,” Perry added. “But I haven’t even had a phone call from this president.”

Obama is scheduled to be in Austin and Dallas on Wednesday and Thursday for DNC fundraisers, according to The Monitor newspaper of McAllen, Tex.
Perry’s call for Obama to see the border crisis comes after what the governor said has been a clear “lack of focus” on securing Texas border for years. The humanitarian issue has come to the forefront recently after more than 52,000 unaccompanied minors and 39,000 adults with children have been apprehended trying to cross the U.S.-Mexico border illegally since October.
