11 Killed, At Least 60 Wounded In Citywide Shootings This Weekend

At least 60 other people were wounded in citywide shootings throughout the holiday weekend.
In an email, police spokesman Martin Maloney said, “We saw an unacceptable level of gun violence this weekend, and there is clearly much more work to be done. We will keep building on our strategy, putting more officers on the street in summer months, proactively intervening in gang conflicts, partnering with community leaders, and with the Mayor’s leadership the City will continue investing in prevention programs for at-risk youth. Yet, even with the best police and the best policing strategy in the world, without better state and federal laws to keep guns off the streets and out of the hands of dangerous criminals we’ll continue to face an uphill battle.”
CBS 2 security consultant Ross Rice said the weekend’s violence speaks to a larger problem.
“I think that is representative of the gang, drug, gun violence problem that still persists in Chicago,” Rice said. “It’s not a law enforcement problem solely. There’s not going to be a law enforcement solution to this. You can’t arrest your way out of gang violence.”

White Farmers Banned From Owning Land In Zimbabwe


Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe reportedly wants all of the nation’s white farmers to relinquish their land to black Zimbabweans.

President Mugabe, 90, made the announcement last week, proclaiming that whites may no longer own any land in Zimbabwe, reports The Christian Science Monitor.

“I have been given a list of 35 white farmers in Mashonaland West alone,” Mugabe said to a crowd of farmers in Mhangura, a town north of the capital Harare. “We say no to whites owning our land and they should go. … They can own companies and apartments…but not the soil. It is ours and that message should ring loud and clear in Britain and the United States.”

The white farmers union is upset that racial tensions in the country are rising again.

"We'd like to move forward and work with the government of the day," Commercial Farmers Union director Hendricks Olivier said.

"Don't be too kind to white farmers. Land is yours, not theirs," Mugabe said.

At this time between 100 and 150 white farmers remain in Zimbabwe.

The comments made by Mugabe are surprising to BBC Zimbabwe analyst Stanley Kwenda, as the government officially ended its land reform program nearly two years ago.

Kwenda believes Mugabe is trying to deflect attention away from the country’s economic crisis that includes worsening unemployment and the closure of firms.

“The problems with our country at the moment are dictatorship, [bad] governance, corruption, kleptocracy and other all forms of prejudices,” said Barnabus Thondlana, editor of Zimbabwe’s weekly “The Observer.”

“We should be fighting these prejudices like tribalism, regionalism and racism. I say no to racism.”

Feds Threaten Journalist With ARREST for Exposing Border Crisis

The United States is facing an “orchestrated” humanitarian crisis on our southern border, as tens of thousands of illegal immigrants are crossing the border in search of amnesty.
President Obama’s administration has made no effort to enforce border security laws, instead focusing on detaining the illegals and shipping them around the country.  Fortunately, Texas, and numerous militia units, have stepped up with an emergency plan to secure the border on their own.
Unfortunately, censorship has become the unofficial rule and position of the federal government.  A US Congressman was denied access to a facility housing illegal immigrants in his own district.  Doctors and nurses treating the thousands of sick illegals are being forced to sign nondisclosure agreements, under threat of arrest, as are our Border Patrol agents.

Congressman To Introduce Bill Authorizing Immediate Return Of Illegal Alien Children

Rep. Matt Salmon, R-Ariz., wants U.S. Customs and Border Patrol to have the authority to immediately repatriate unaccompanied unauthorized immigrant children to non-contiguous countries such as El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. He is chairman of the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere.
Excerpted from The Arizona Republic: U.S. Customs and Border Protection would get the authority to immediately return unaccompanied immigrant children crossing the border to their home countries in Central America under a bill U.S. Rep. Matt Salmon intends to introduce early this week.
Salmon, R-Ariz., said his measure would address a provision in a 2008 human-trafficking law that requires U.S. Border Patrol agents to turn the children over to the U.S. Department of Health and Humans Services and guarantees them hearings, which can take years. If the children came from Mexico or Canada, the Border Patrol already can quickly transfer them back to the custody of their governments.
Tens of thousands of children from countries such as Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras have entered the country without authorization since the fall and overwhelmed the resources of President Barack Obama’s administration. Obama is asking Congress for $2 billion to help pay for additional immigration judges needed to handle the new cases and other costs related to the border emergency. The White House also has signaled that Obama would like lawmakers to revisit the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 to allow for accelerated deportations.
“I think the first step to fix it is to give our CBP guys the authority to immediately repatriate them back to their countries,” said Salmon, who is chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere and a member of the working group that U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, assembled to address the crisis. “Then we are going to have to have communications with Mexico and work with them to secure Mexico’s southern border.”
Salmon also suggested that the United States use some money from the anti-crime Merida Initiative, a U.S.-Mexican partnership, to help Mexico strengthen its southern security and crack down on the human smugglers who are trafficking the children.
“There are a lot of dollars that we are giving out in foreign aid and I think we need to redirect some of it,” he said. “If the president is asking for $2 billion, I think we have to find it within the system and reshuffle things.

What Malia Got For Her 16th Birthday Has People Outraged

The First Family is pretty much used to getting their way 100% of the time, so why shouldn’t the kids be any different? As it turns out, for Malia’s 16^th birthday, good ol’ mom and pop got her a shiny new car – that she can’t even drive yet.
Everyone surrounding the issue has pretty much remained mum on the issue as the Obama’s have made it more than clear that they’d like for their daughters to remain out of the spotlight. As of now, the make, model and color haven’t been released but one thing is clear – Malia can’t drive it by herself for at least a year.

As it stands, the law in DC declares that you have to be at least 17 years of age in order to obtain a license, and that’s after you’ve done a 6 month stint learning how to drive with another licensed driver in the car with your permit.
After all is said and done, the purchase, truly indicative of Obama mindset, proved to be wasteful in nature just to spoil yet another elite. What do you guys think of this – if she can’t drive by herself yet, what is the purpose of having a car?

Parade Float Features Outhouse as "Obama's Presidential Library"

One of the more popular floats at this year's Fourth of July parade in Norfolk, Neb. was of a ghoulish, skeletal figure propped up against an outhouse that had ""OBAMA PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY" emblazoned on the side. According to the committee that approved the float for the parade, it was purely "political satire."

From the Lincoln Journal-Star:

Parade committee member Rick Konopasek said the float wasn't meant to be any more offensive than a political cartoon would be. The only restriction for entering a float is that it can't be considered morally objectionable. That basically translates to a ban on nudity to sexually explicit messages, Konopasek said.

"We don't feel its right to tell someone what they can and can't express," he said. "This was political satire. If we start saying no to certain floats, we might as well not have a parade at all."

"I'm angry and I'm scared," Glory Kathurima, who was at the parade, told the Lincoln Journal-Star. "The float was not just political; this was absolutely a racial statement." Further from the Omaha World-Herald:

The World-Herald also received several emails from people expressing concern. One email, from a person who said she had grown up in northeast Nebraska, called it disrespectful that such a display would be allowed in a parade that celebrates America's history. The Nebraska Democratic Party also issued a statement, calling it one of the "worst shows of racism and disrespect for the office of the presidency that Nebraska has ever seen."

Norfolk City Councilman Dick Pfeil also voiced his displeasure with the float.

"The City of Norfolk doesn't condone that," Pfeil said.

The councilman noted, however, that it was up to the Odd Fellows to approve the floats. A representative of the Odd Fellows did not return a phone message from a World-Herald reporter Saturday evening.

"It's obvious the majority of the community liked it," Konopasek told the Lincoln Journal-Star. "So should we deny the 95 percent of those that liked it their rights, just for the 5 percent of people who are upset?"

The Associated Press reports that parade organizers plan to meet this week to discuss the float and "whether any policy changes should be made for the future."

Sarah Palin Is Publicly Auditioning To Join 'The View'

Sarah Palin is dropping subtle hints that she might want to be a panelist on "The View." And by "subtle hints," we mean that she is explicitly saying in an interview that she might want to be a panelist on "The View."*
The ABC show is undergoing an almost total overhaul, with every host but Whoopi Goldberg departing. That means that lots of replacements are needed.
Enter Palin. Asked by the Hollywood Reporter if she had any interest in doing a "political talk show," she replied, "I hear everyone recently got canned from 'The View,' maybe a show like that needs a punch of reality and a voice of reason from America's heartland to knock some humble sense into their scripts. You know, someone willing to go rogue."
It's that kind of slavish adherence to a well-worn catchphrase that could make Palin the perfect daytime talk show host. Moreover, with everyone from Rosie O'Donnell to Mario Cantone being touted as a possible new panelist, "The View" has a chance to really return to its delightfully bonkers roots. Just imagine a show co-hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O'Donnell, Sarah Palin and Mario Cantone. JUST. IMAGINE. THAT.
*Note: Sarah Palin is not likely to join "The View" in real life, but it is fun to dream, no?

Active 4-Star General: Obama’s Border Crisis Threatens America’s Existence

The ongoing border crisis is much more than just a flood of illegal immigrants searching for amnesty and a better life.  It is a crisis that is threatening America’s national security, and even it’s very existence as we know it, as deadly diseases, drugs, weapons, even terrorists are being smuggled into the country, with doctors and agents being threatened to stay silent about it.
While Border Patrol and Customs agents are being overwhelmed by the thousands of unaccompanied children coming across the border, criminals and cartels are having a field day, moving back and forth across the border to smuggle things in and out of the country, sometimes with the assistance of corrupt Mexican military units.
Texas has increased it’s law enforcement personnel on the border, and numerous militia units are working together to fill in the gaps where they can to secure the border.  But the cries are ringing out for armed soldiers, either National Guard or regular military, to defend the border against the “invasion”.

US spending $252 a day per child to care for young illegal immigrants, fourth military base now housing site

With communities across the country pushing back on plans to locate young illegal immigrants in their area, the federal government is looking towards military bases to house the thousands of children streaming across America's southwestern border.
The Department of Health and Human Services announced yesterday it was no longer considering a Federal Emergency Management Agency facility in Anniston as a temporary housing location for undocumented children. On the same day, the Department of Defense announced a fourth military base will be opened as a shelter site.
"It's the right thing to do," Army Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, said.
The Pentagon has offered Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington, according to a report in Military.com. The base is home to a former summer camp which may be used as a housing location for as many as 600 children.
"We have offered this up to the Department of Health and Human Services to house the children while the Justice Department decides their fate," Warren said. "Those kids need a place to sleep."
Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and Naval Base Ventura County in Southern California are currently housing as many as 2,572 children. The Military.com report said HHS has leased housing on the three bases for 120 days with an option to renew if needed.

Free Dylan Johnson: US citizen wrongfully convicted in Mexico

Dylan Johnson, now 30, is a US Citizen and he is currently serving a 13-year prison sentence, in San Miguel de Allende, a town in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato, for a crime he did not commit. Prosecution is appealing for an even longer sentence.
This story proves the adage that truth is stranger than fiction. These are the facts of the case:
In 2003, Dylan, at the request of his mother who had relocated to Comonfort, Guanajuato, drove a truck down for her. He helped her with the construction of her new home and spent time in this small town. 
On September 7, 2003 the body of a sixteen year old male was discovered in a hotel room in Empalme Escobedo. This hotel is known as a place where rooms are rented by the hour. License plate numbers are recorded in their registry but generally no names. The police questioned the hotel staff who said a “gringo” had rented the room and that he had arrived in a green truck. They said they did not record a license plate number this time or have information about the make or model of the truck.
On Sept. 11, 2003, Dylan, whose visa was about to expire, asked a neighbor to drop him at the bus station so he could fly back to the US, leaving the truck for his mother, who at the time was in the US, settling her father’s estate. The police see a green truck, seize it, and say they found copies of Dylan’s passport and ID – having copies of one’s papers, especially regarding cars, is necessary down here. A warrant was issued for his arrest. 
No forensic evidence,  the crime scene has been described in various contradictory ways:
Rape and strangulation with blood evidence and strangulation with no sign of sexual activity or other violence. A bizarre case of injustice.
The first week of Dylan’s arrival in Mexico the rape charges had been dropped. Aggravated Murder charge is reduced to Simple Homicide. 
Dylan, unaware of any murder or warrant, returns to the US, marries and starts a business. In 2009, six years after this crime, police return to the hotel with a photo array, five Mexican men with facial hair and one gringo without facial hair. The staff identifies the gringo. The only American male in the photo array. 
 In 2010, then Mexican Ambassador to the United States, Arturo Sarukhan, files an extradition request. Two more years go by and on February 7, 2012, a group of US Marshals enter the home of Dylan and his wife Erica at 6am, grab and shackle Dylan, order his wife to remove his shoelaces, kick the dog down the basement stairs and take Dylan away. He then sits in prison for eight months waiting for a hearing. Most of this time is spent in solitary confinement because, although he has not been charged with anything, the prison population is somehow informed that he is a pedophile. He has a medical condition and his usual medication was not provided. On October 17, 2012, extradition was granted based, not on any evidence, but on a low standard of probable cause: a ludicrous photo identification, being in the area, having a truck and perhaps having met the victim – this is a small town, most people come across each other at some point and certainly gringos stand out.
The judge, Maureen Kelly, in an opinion and order dated Oct. 17, explained that her task was not to determine Johnson’s guilt or innocence, nor whether the evidence provided would be sufficient under U.S. law to meet the requirements of probable cause. Her job was to certify to the secretary of state that Johnson may be detained and surrendered to Mexico, pursuant to an existing extradition treaty between the U.S. and Mexico. 
This treaty was agreed upon in 1978 and it does not require either country to surrender its own nationals. There is a 60 day window for an appeal to be filed but Dylan was extradited before the deadline so he was denied his writ of habeas corpus which is expressly referenced in Article 1 Section 9 of the Constitution of the United States of America. Dylan was not given time to even make a phone call and he was extradited with an expired passport. He wasn’t able to contact his wife until a fellow inmate offered his cell phone in Mexico City. In extradition hearings, constitutional rights basically do not apply, hearsay is admissible, contradictory evidence is inadmissible and so is presentation of an alibi.
Since this time, his wife has made countless attempts to reach the State Department, the attorneys involved, consular agents, both embassies and she has been ignored. Dylan does not know who his public defender is and does not understand the trial proceedings since his Spanish isn’t good and he is not allowed translations of the documents. He says has no access to basic essentials like hygiene products and in Mexico, inmates families are expected to provide for them.
