Russia Today Correspondent Abruptly Quits Over Malaysian Crash Coverage and Levies Big Charge

A London-based correspondent for Russia Today resigned Friday over what she called the Kremlin-funded network’s “total disregard” of the facts surrounding Thursday’s Malaysia Airlines crash, saying RT is “spreading lies” for Vladimir Putin.

Sara Firth said in her resignation announcement that while she has respect for “many on the team,” she’s “for the truth.”

 

Firth told BuzzFeed she believed RT was “disrespectfully” trying to blame the crash on the Ukrainian government.
“When this story broke I ran back into the newsroom and saw how we were covering it already and I just knew I had to go,” she said. “It was the total disregard to the facts. We threw up eyewitness accounts from someone on the ground openly accusing the Ukrainian government (of involvement in the disaster) and a correspondent in the studio pulled up a plane crash before that the Ukrainian government had been involved in and said it was ‘worth mentioning’.”
“It’s not worth mentioning. It’s RT all over, it’s flirting with that border of overtly lying. You’re not telling a lie, you’re just bringing something up. I didn’t want to watch a story like that where people have lost loved ones and we’re handling it like that,” she said. “I couldn’t do it any more, we’re lying every single day. Every single day we’re lying and finding sexier ways to do it.”

American news anchor Liz Wahl quit her job at the state-owned TV network Russia Today live on the air Wednesday, saying she is “proud to be an American” and could no longer “be a part of a network that whitewashes the actions of Putin.”

Wahl said she is the grandchild of Hungarian refugees who fled brutal Soviet oppression.
“I am very lucky to have grown up here in the United States,” she said. “I am the daughter of a veteran, my partner is a physician at a military base, where he sees everyday the firsthand accounts of the ultimate prices that people pay for this country.”
“That is why personally I cannot be part of a network that is funded by the Russian government that whitewashes the actions of Putin. I am proud to be an American and believe in disseminating the truth. And that is why after this newscast I am resigning,” Wahl concluded.

Remember last summer, when President Obama appointed Joe Biden to head the Campaign to Cut Waste to root out wasteful government spending?
Like you, we’ve been anxiously awaiting the results of the comprehensive report that’s surely coming any day now. In the meantime, it seems like he’s adding to the list of things to root out.
Last month it was reported that every weekend he gets a lift from D.C. to his home in Wilmington, Delaware, via Air Force Two — the V.P.’s airplane — and Marine Two — the V.P.’s helicopter. And he often gets a mid-weekend lift back to the Andrews Air Force Base for a round of golf with the President.
Based upon the $22,000 an hour cost for the airtime, that works out to about $1 million per year in shuttling costs. That doesn’t count the cost of the 20 condominiums that the Secret Service rents in Wilmington nor the cost of Air Force Two sitting and waiting for him while he plays 18 holes of golf.
Just this week, details were released for his one-night trip to Brazil for the USA versus Ghana World Cup game, as well as some meetings with the President and Vice President of Brazil.
According to the State Department documents, four different hotels were needed, but the actual number of rooms obtained was not released. Although establishing a total “room night” count is standard practice, it can be assumed that more than one room per hotel was used.
The total cost for the one-night was $2,245,343, spread over all four hotels. It must be nice to be ‘down for the working man,’ while living like royalty in foreign lands spending big bucks that can be put to better use here in America.

Indicted Businessman Names Harry Reid as Alleged Recipient of Massive Bribe
 
A Utah businessman is rocking both state and national politics after claiming Utah Attorney General John Swallow helped him broker a deal with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to make a federal investigation into his company quietly disappear, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Jeremy Johnson was allegedly told that the price would be $600,000, and claims to have made an initial payment of $250,000 when he was slapped with a federal lawsuit. Now he says he wants his money back.

The Salt Lake Tribune points out that Johnson has no way of knowing whether the funds actually made it to Reid, even if he did make a massive payment to Reid’s alleged intermediary.

The Salt Lake Tribune continues, explaining how the bribe supposedly came to be in 2010:
At the time, Johnson was largely known in Utah as a wealthy philanthropist who spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to ferry supplies into Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake.

Then, with the FTC investigation continuing, Johnson said Swallow suggested Reid could make problems with regulators go away — for a price.

“I said, ‘OK, what do I need to do?’ He’s like, ‘OK, it costs money,’ ” Johnson said, who claimed Swallow was adamant he make a deal.

“I think he told me, ‘Richard Rawle has a connection with Harry Reid,’ ” Johnson said.

He said Swallow at first wanted $2 million to enlist Reid’s help. But [his company] I Works was no longer profitable and he did not have the money, Johnson said, so they eventually agreed on $300,000 upfront and $300,000 later.

Swallow put Johnson in contact with Rawle, whose company has operations in Nevada…

Rawle, who died of cancer last month, had contributed to Reid’s 2010 re-election bid and later bragged to Johnson that the Nevada Democrat helped him delay new federal payday-loan regulations, Johnson said.

On Sept. 29, 2010, Swallow sent an email to Johnson with the subject line “Mtg. with Harry Reid’s contact.”

“Richard [Rawle] is traveling to LV tomorrow and will be able to contact this person, who he has a very good relationship with. He needs a brief narrative of what is going on and what you want to happen. I don’t know the cost, but it probably won’t be cheap.”

On Oct. 7, Johnson emailed Rawle, insisting there was “rock solid proof” the FTC allegations against I Works were false. “We will do whatever it take[s] to get Senator Reid on our side and hopefully you can help make it happen. Let me know.”

Hagel quietly notifies Congress of transfer of 6 Gitmo detainees

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel quietly notified Congress last week that the military is set to transfer six Guantanamo Bay prisoners to Uruguay as soon as next month, The New York Times revealed Wednesday.
The deal has been waiting for Mr. Hagel’s approval since March, but stalled after the Obama administration received a wave of backlash for releasing five Taliban detainees to Qatar in exchange for the release Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
The administration did not give Congress 30-days notice in that deal, but argued it was still legal because any delay could have risked Sgt. Bergdahl’s life.
Of the six low-level detainees expected to be released next month, four are Syrian, one is Palestinian and one is Tunisian. The transfer would bring the Gitmo population down to 143 prisoners — 72 of which are recommended for transfer, The Times reported.
The administration is said to have notified Congress of the decision on July 9, the report said.
“Although we will not discuss certain aspects of our communications with Congress, we continue to move forward in transferring Guantanamo detainees and will continue to comply with the law in notifying Congress 30 days in advance of any transfer,” said Lt. Col. Myles Caggins III, a Pentagon spokesman.
State Department spokesman Ian Moss told The Times: “The United States is grateful to our partner, Uruguay, for this significant humanitarian gesture, and appreciates the Uruguayan government’s generous assistance as the United States continues its efforts to close the detention facility at Guantanamo.”
“We remain very appreciative of the assistance of our friends and allies who have stepped up not just to receive their own nationals but also those countries who have accepted detainees for resettlement,” he said.

Obama Spent $4k on Marijuana While Visiting Colorado 

On Friday, a Secret Service agent alleged that President Barack Obama ordered him to spend approximately $4,000 on purchasing marijuana during a recent Colorado visit. And now, that agent has been fired by the Department of Homeland Security for carrying out that order.

The “Commander in Spleef” was in Colorado last week, partly on vacation while also meeting and greeting Americans on the street, delivering speeches, and hanging out with Governor John Hickenlooper. The incident allegedly happened on Tuesday evening, while visiting Denver, with Obama asking now-former Secret Service agent Tom Brannigan to run an especially questionable errand.

“He told me he had `the need, the need for weed.’ It sounds corny, but he actually did say that,” Brannigan claims. “So he gave me a bunch of money and told me to `scare up some quality buds.’ I didn’t think it was right or wrong. I’m a Secret Service agent. I’m not paid to ask questions about morality.”

Brannigan took the $4,000 in cash to a chic, trendy marijuana boutique store called “Euflora” in Denver, where the staff allegedly helped him pick out the perfect drugs for President Obama. “I was supposed to get him three-grand’s worth of pot, and use that last thousand to silence whoever I purchased it from. But they insisted they’d protect the identities of their clientele, no matter who it was,” Brannigan says. “So I spent all of it on marijuana.”

Brannigan claims Obama was “thrilled” with his purchase, and spent the evening “smoking up” with Governor Hickenlooper and Denver Nuggets basketball player Ty Lawson. He also says Obama was planning to bring most of the marijuana back to Washington DC with him, though he couldn’t confirm or deny whether Obama had actually done that, or if he had smoked all of the marijuana before leaving Colorado.

But despite the fact Brannigan was supposedly acting on orders given by President Obama directly, Secret Service Director Julia Pierson fired him on Tuesday, July 15th, for quote “gross negligence and dereliction of duty,” shortly after another Secret Service agent informed her of what had happened in Denver.

US Marine Corps commandant openly blasts CIC Obama

On July 15, 2014, speaking at the Brookings Institute think tank in Washington, DC, the Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, 4-star Gen. James Amos, openly and publicly criticized Commander-In-Chief Barack Hussein Obama.

Reporting for The Fiscal Times, David Francis observes that “It’s highly unusual for a high-ranking soldier, let alone a high-ranking Marine, to publicly question White House and Pentagon policy. Yet that’s exactly what four-star Gen. James Amos, Commandant of the Marine Corps, did yesterday in Washington.”

Speaking at the Brookings Institute, Amos criticized the Obama administration for:

1. Paving the way for the emergence of the Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS) by completely withdrawing American troops in 2011. Amos said: “I have a hard time believing that had we been there, and worked with the government, and worked with parliament, and worked with the minister of defense, the minister of interior, I don’t think we’d be in the same shape we’re in today.”

2. Failing to live up to U.S. obligations around the world. Amos said: “We may think we’re done with all of these nasty, thorny, tacky little things that are going on around the world — and I’d argue that if you’re in that nation, it’s not a tacky, little thing for you. We may think we’re done with them, but they’re not done with us. We’re probably the only country in the world that has the resources and the capability to be able to do some of this that others can’t.”

3. Forfeiting gains made in Iraq and Afghanistan for which U.S. troops had fought and sacrificed. Referring to the fall of the Anbar province in Iraq, which Marines won in 2010 and in whhich 852 Marines were killed and naother 8,500 injured, Amos said “It breaks our hearts. They believed that they’d made a difference.”

Reporter David Francis opined that “Perhaps Amos felt free to voice opinions on White House policy because he is set to retire this fall. Now, his comments are likely to influence the debate within the defense community about how to handle the myriad of crises going on around the world.”

‘Doomsday sputnik’: Russia said to launch new missile-attack warning satellite

After years of delay, Russia plans to deploy this year the first satellite of its new constellation replacing the space component of the early warning system, Russian media reported. It will also double as an emergency communication satellite.
The satellite was developed for the military, so naturally little is known about it. Identified by disambiguation ‘product 14F142’, it is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2014, according to Kommersant newspaper.
The spacecraft will be the first in a constellation, aimed to replace the old Oko-1 early warning system, which allows Russia survey countries possessing nuclear-capable ballistic missiles and detect possible launches.
Oko-1 is currently in bad shape. To be fully operational, it needs four 73D6 satellites in placed in a highly elliptical orbit, dubbed ‘Molnya’ (lightning) orbit, to provide full-time coverage of the area of interest, and an additional backup satellite in a 71X6 geosynchronous orbit. Russia lost the last of the 71X6s in April this year and has not launched replacements for the 73D6s since 2008, with only two still operational.
The Russian military assured that the ground-based network of early warning radar stations, which the country considerably upgraded in the past years, is robust enough to compensate for the blind spot in the space component, but they may not be completely earnest.
A replacement for Oko-1, the EKS (Unified Space System), has been in development since at least 2000 and was initially expected the star space tests in 2009. But the project faced a set of delays and a round of public bickering and a court battle between the Defense Ministry and Energia space corporation, which builds the platforms for the satellite. Now Kommersant says all the disputes and setbacks are in the past, with the spacecraft almost ready for launch.
The 14F142 is to be launched by a Soyuz-2.1b rocket and a Fregat third stage to a Tundra orbit – a highly elliptical orbit similar to Molnya, but with twice its period. The newspaper source says the instruments build by Kometa Corporation will be able to detect launches of submarine-launched ballistic missiles and launches of some cruise missiles.
In addition to detecting a launch, the spacecraft will be able to calculate the projectile’s flight parameters, which will be handy for ground radar stations locking on it. It will also provide communication functions for the military, allowing commands for a retaliatory nuclear strike to be transmitted, should things really go that far south, Kommersant said.
Amid preparation for the launch the military are upgrading Oko-1 ground station in Serpukhov-15 to take control of the 14F142.

The Islamic Caliphate in Iraq gives Christians One Day to Leave Or Get Their Heads Chopped Off

As we have reported, the ISIS (Islamic Caliphate) gave Iraqi Christians in Mosul one day to leave or face death by beheading if they failed to follow two conditions, convert to Islam or pay the Jizziyeh Tax.
Currently, fear and terror has began to permeate the Christian community as the ISIS and their supporters began to attack Christians closing all churches as they raised their Muslim banners on top of churches and removed all the crosses.
Christians were ordered to leave the city within 24 hours beginning September 21. The order said it would allow “for Christians to evacuate themselves … only to later end on Saturday, September 21 at noon … After this deadline, there is nothing left between us and them, but the sword,” according to the statement.
In addition to what we also reported, the ISIS also began to tighten the grip on Christians recently ordering health institutions in the city of Mosul to fire hundreds of Christians who worked as doctors and nurses and were expelled from holding jobs in any public institutions. Most Christians have fled already but according to sources, there are 250 Christian families left behind unable to leave and face persecution or slaughter.
Accordingly, as Shoebat.com reported yesterday, Christian homes in the Arab district of Mosul Iraq had their homes boarded with signs saying “Property of the Islamic State”. That including red spray paint with the Arabic letter “N” for Nusrani which stands for Nazarene (Christian).

What is happening in Iraq is reminiscent to an impending holocaust and is what happened to the Jews in Germany before they were set for extinction.
In Islam Christians and Jews must wear identifiable clothing and live in a clearly marked house and must not build their houses in the neighborhood of Muslims. (See Sunan Abu Daud, Book 38, #4390).
If the Christians choose to pay Jizziyeh (Poll Tax) this would be in accordance to the infamous Omar Charter which declared that the Christians would have their necks bound with a collar stamped on it the amount of the payment and the collar is not to be broken until the payment is completed. This is in accordance to the Quranic verse ‘Until they pay the Jezzieh by an upper hand, may they be subjugated (humiliated)’. It also means that Christians would need to wear identifiable humiliating attire with a large pocket in the chest area like women. As for Christian women, they must wear shoes with different colors, one black and the other white.

Anti-semitic bias has long been documented at the BBC. This is nothing new. But apparently it’s not vicious enough. Muslims are attacking Jews in San Francisco, Los Angeles (where the Department of Homeland Security officer had to fire his weapon to stop the Muslim mob), Boston, UK, Melbourne, Berlin, New York, Chicago, Seattle, The Hague, Morocco, London, Paris (and more in France) and Malmo.

It is very telling that Muslims will protest media for not being antisemitic enough, but these same “moderates” never protest against the Islamic terrorism they supposedly reject and oppose. Why are there never any mass Muslim protests against this savagery? Why aren’t those “moderate” Muslims who are violently demonstrating against Israel in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, etc., protesting the Islamic persecution of Christians in Egypt? Nigeria? Syria? The Muslim starving of Christians in Mosul? The Muslims kidnapping of hundreds of Christian girls in Nigeria? Why aren’t Muslims protesting the over 175,000 dead in jihadi wars in Syria? The jihad in Iraq? Honor Killings? Clitordectomies? Why is it that only Jews defending themselves set them off?

It gives further proof to the lie that moderates do not support the jihad and sharia. Their actions belie that myth.
