Hamas coup against Abbas in Judea and Samaria foiled
A large scale operation mounted from May to August by the IDF and Israel Security Agency (ISA or Shin Bet) foiled a Hamas network’s plot to carry out a coup in the Palestinian Authority (PA) in Judea and Samaria
The news about the operation was under a gag order until today.
The Hamas infrastructure in
Judea and Samaria was controlled by a Hamas HQ in Turkey. The plot was
to carry out a series of cruel terror attacks against Israel and create a
situation of security instability, then take advantage of that
situation to take over the PA.
Israel announced that 93 Hamas terrorists
were arrested in the operation. Of these, 46 were taken to interrogation
by the ISA. Hamas terror funds amounting to over 600,000 shekels (about
$170,000) were confiscated and weapons including 54 guns, 6 handguns
and 7 RPGs were seized.
The network was assisted by an additional
array in Jordan and on carriers, who carried funds amounting to over 2
million NIS into Judea and Samaria for the purchase of weapons and
hideout apartments.
The military infrastructure was headed by
Riad Nasser, 38, of Deir Kadis in the Binyamin region, who has served
several stints in jail for Hamas terror activity.
Nasser was recruited by Saleh Alaruri, 47,
who is in charge of the Hamasinfrastructure in Judea and Samaria, and
who is currently in Turkey. Nasser’s interrogation revealed a carefully
crafted plan for toppling the PA government of Mahmoud Abbas.
To this end, a large
military infrastructure was set up in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, with
the assistance of Hamas leaders in Israeli jails and terrorists who
served time in jail and have been freed. The recruits included
academicians and students, with an emphasis on students of chemistry and
engineering.
The Judea and Samaria infrastructure’s direct
communication was with the HQ in Jordan, which included Auda Zahran,
53, who directed the funneling of funds for buying weapons, and
preparing safe houses that also served as weapons stores.

Pope predicts own death in 2-3 years
Francis doesn’t rule out early retirement, saying Benedict XVI opened the door
ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE — Pope Francis on Monday publicly broached the prospect of his own death for the first time, giving himself “two or three years” but not ruling out retirement before then.
Talking to reporters on a flight back to the
Vatican from South Korea, the 77-year-old pontiff, who seemed in good
spirits, was asked about his global popularity, which was evident again
during his five-day visit.
“I see it as the generosity of the people of
God. I try to think of my sins, my mistakes, not to become proud.
Because I know it will last only a short time. Two or three years and
then I’ll be off to the Father’s House,” he replied light-heartedly.
The Argentine pope said he could handle the popularity “more naturally” these days, though at first it had “scared me a little.”
While the pope has not spoken publicly before
about when he might meet his maker, a Vatican source said he had
previously told those close to him that he thought he only had a few
years left.
Pope Francis also mentioned the possibility of
retiring from the Papacy, as his predecessor Benedict XVI did last
year, if he felt he could no longer adequately perform his duties.
Resigning the papacy was a possibility “even if it does not appeal to some theologians,” he told reporters.
He added that 60 years ago it was practically unheard of for Catholic bishops to retire, but nowadays it was common.
“Benedict XVI opened a door,” he said.
Francis admitted that he had “some nerve problems,” which required treatment.
“Must treat them well, these nerves, give them mate (an Argentine stimulant tea) every day,” he joked.
What has happened in Ferguson, Missouri is tragic. Not only is the death of Michael Brown tragic, but the way the community is responding is just as tragic. We do not know all of the facts surrounding how Brown was shot. Although unarmed, the situation is being framed as if the officer in question simply drew his gun and shot Brown. But, that may not be the case.
It’s possible that Brown was shot during a struggle with the officer as there have been reports that he was trying to take the officer’s gun. But, facts don’t matter to race hustlers and people seeking an excuse to rob, steal, and race bait. They are jumping to conclusions and reacting in ways that are both inappropriate and dangerous.
The community has gone so wild that one would think they are in a war-torn area. People are rioting, looting, stealing, burning down business, destroying personal property, shooting at police and news helicopters, and threatening the lives and property of others. The shakedown artist himself, Al Sharpton, is on his way to do his shakedown artist act before the camera with a list of demands. Mind you, he is not demanding that the community calm down, act rationale, and stop the violence. No, he is demanding vigilante justice before all the facts are in.
And Sharpton isn’t the only one with a list of demands. The New Black Panthers have arrived on the scene with their own demands in which they play judge, jury, and executioner prior to any investigation being conducted.
The New Black Panthers and Al Sharpton do not want answers. They do not want to know the truth for the truth they hear may just impact their race baiting antics. No, they want vigilante justice at any and all costs.
Take a close look at the groups partnering with the New Black Panthers in their list of demands and street justice.
Will Eric Holder, who self-identifies as an activist attorney general, intervene to ensure an outcome that will help him and Barack Obama with their continued attempts to divide the country on racial lines?
SHOOT FIRST: Detroit Police Chief Calls Citizens To Buy Guns To Combat Crime
Detroit police chief James Craig has called on “good” and “law-abiding” Detroiters to arm themselves against criminals in the city.According to media reports, the city has only 2,300 police officers and many Detroiters feel they have to rely on themselves first for their own security and survival.
Many citizens are answering Craig’s call and have armed themselves. Patricia Champion, a 63-year-old lifelong Detroiter, a grandmother and retired educator. She decided to get her concealed pistol license, and now carries a 9mm Glock 19 for her safety
“That’s why I got it: because I’m going to be in the house. Now, if somebody chooses to come in and I didn’t invite you, between the Glock and the dog, you’re gone. If one doesn’t get you, the other one will,” she said.
“The police are not going to protect you when something is being perpetrated on you. They may turn up after the fact and run after that person, but you have to protect yourself,” Champion added.
Trey Gowdy: I’m Going to “Methodically” Take Down Obama
Congressman Trey Gowdy has been quietly working on discovering and exposing the truth behind the Benghazi terror attack. After Congress returns from their August recess, Gowdy intends to begin holding hearings with the Benghazi Select Committee, most likely in early September.
Gowdy has already promised to subpoena Hillary Clinton and compel her to testify, although it remains unclear if she will cooperate, as she has intimated that she won’t turn over her personal notes regarding Benghazi.
Trey Gowdy was recently asked in an ABC interview if he would be done with his Benghazi Committee before the midterm elections take place, which Gowdy laughed off, according to The Hill.
“No. Heavens no,” said Gowdy, “I have decided that I would rather be right than first. So we are going to do it methodically, professionally.”
Gowdy said the first public hearing will focus mostly on the State Department’s Accountability Review Board investigation of the Benghazi, and if their recommendations have been taken to heart and followed by the State Department.
He said there may be other public hearings in the future, but he prefers to do his work in private depositions, feeling he can get more done without the grandstanding for cameras and limited time frame that come with public hearings.
“I can get more information in a five-hour deposition than I can [in] five minutes of listening to a colleague asking questions in a committee hearing,” he said, adding: “My view of public hearings — if there is a factual discrepancy, then the jury or our fellow citizens need to hear both sides, and they can determine where the greater weight or credibility is. But if there is a consensus on a point, there really is not any reason to litigate that in public.”
Trey Gowdy absolutely should take his time working with the Benghazi Select Committee. There need not be any rush, and with all the distractions of a crucial campaign season, it may actually be wise to wait until after the elections to really get down to the core of the matter.
Obama deserts an ally in wartime
What kind of ally refuses to send you desperately needed weapons when you’re smack in the middle of a war?Apparently, that’s what the Obama folks did with Israel, which is caught up fighting with Hamas. It’s unforgivable.
The decision came, it seems, after White House officials learned that, unbeknownst to them, Israel had gotten mortar shells and grenade-illuminating rounds from the Pentagon to use against Hamas, as The Wall Street Journal reported last week.
Officials say they were “blindsided” by the transfer. But it turns out that it was done as a matter of routine: No OK by the president or secretary of state was needed.
Still, the White House suddenly put all future transfers on hold, including a scheduled shipment of Hellfire missiles. And it ordered the Pentagon to consult with the executive branch and State Department before approving any future requests.
Obama folks downplayed the move and claims of a new tiff with Israel. They say reports that they held up missile shipments “does not indicate any change in policy.”
If true, though, what kind of a policy is it?
In any case, the animosity between President Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is no secret. Just last week, the Journal reported, the men had a “particularly combative phone call.”
No doubt the White House is irked by the fact that its efforts to mediate an end to the fighting have fallen flat and that it’s been pushed to the sidelines as others, like Egypt, take up the role.
It also resents the fact that Israel insists on pursuing its right to self-defense and won’t give in to US pressure to make more concessions.
Yet none of that justifies lashing out against Israel — and holding up weapons — in the middle of a war.
If Israel suffers, and its terrorist enemies are emboldened, America’s own security interest abroad will be harmed. And if any ally still trusts us to have their back, they won’t anymore.
The president is letting his personal pique get the better of him. It’s unwise. And certainly no way treat a friend in wartime.
Inspectors General: Obama Administration Obstructing Justice
Just a minute after the Liar in Chief took office, he pronounced his administration would become “the most open and transparent in history.” And recently Obama touted, “This is the most transparent administration in history.” But six years into his scandal plagued presidency, critics blast the administration for its lack of cooperation during investigations and the DOJ’s contempt for established oversight procedures.
And it’s not just critics and Republicans who are calling the Obama administration the most corrupt group to ever hold the office. As The Daily Signal Reports:47 of the federal government’s 73 inspectors general, many of whom were appointed by President Obama, sent their letter to Rep. Darrel Issa (R-CA), Sen. Thomas Carper (D-Del.), and the ranking members of the House Oversight and Government Reform and Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committees — essentially pleading with Congress to help the IGs do their jobs uncovering waste, mismanagement, fraud, and corruption within their respective agencies.
In the letter, the IGs complain about the “serious limitations on access to records that have recently impeded the work” of IGs at the Peace Corps, the EPA, and the Department of Justice. Administration lawyers have construed laws related to privilege in “a manner that would override the express authorization contained in the IG Act” and seriously impede the “ability [of the IGs] to conduct our work thoroughly, independently, and in a timely manner.”
According to the letter, the Justice Department withheld “essential records” in three different reviews, despite the fact that such records had been produced for the DOJ IG “in many prior reviews without objection.” Michael Horowitz eventually got access to the files, it seems, but not because Department officials realized they were misinterpreting the IG law in withholding access. No, Horowitz got the records only after DOJ leadership decided that “the three reviews were of assistance to the Department of Justice’s leadership.”
Documents: Feds worried about another ‘Idle No More’ after N.B. fracking protest
Federal officials closely tracked the fallout of an RCMP raid on a First Nations protest against shale-gas exploration in New Brunswick, at one point raising concerns it could spawn another countrywide movement like Idle No More.Documents obtained under access-to-information legislation reveal a lengthy email chain last fall monitoring events related to a blockade near Rexton, N.B., about 70 kilometres north of Moncton.
Members of the Elsipogtog First Nation, who were concerned about the environmental impact of shale-gas development, didn’t want energy company SWN Resources to do testing work on their traditional territory.
Police officers enforced an injunction on Oct. 17 to end the blockade of a compound where the company stored exploration equipment.
The early-morning raid led to violent clashes between officers and protesters. By the end of the day, six police cars had been torched and 40 people arrested.
As the situation unfolded, a government official sent an email reporting “growing support of protesters by first nation (sic) communities and other groups across the country.”
“An ‘Idle No More’ like movement of protests is reportedly being planned starting tomorrow,” wrote Alain Paquet, director of operations for Public Safety Canada.
“We will keep you informed through our Situation Reports...”
Those in the email chain included staff within the Privy Council Office, the central bureaucracy which serves the prime minister and cabinet.
The Government Operations Centre, an arm of Public Safety Canada, emailed out daily reports detailing planned protests across the country.
On its website, the centre says it provides an “all-hazards integrated federal emergency response to events.”
A notice emailed later on Oct. 17 gave a rundown of planned protests and whether they posed a threat of violence.
“Other than the events at Rexton, N.B., so far calls are for peaceful action,” the notice said.
Justin Trudeau's home break-in: Do party leaders need more security?
The automatic security detail provided to Canada's prime minister and Governor General does not need to be expanded to include all federal party leaders like Justin Trudeau, despite the brazen break-in of his home over the weekend, a security analyst says.“I don’t think it’s required, I think it should be done on a case-by-case basis,” said security expert Ty Watts, who provided security for VIPs during his 32 years with the RCMP.
“In order to provide all the security for all those other people, the costs would be huge and I just don’t think that the money, the expense, the time for the guys to train the people to do the job, I don’t think there’s enough there to warrant it.”
The RCMP’s National Division Protective Operations unit is charged with providing security to federal politicians and visiting dignitaries. Only the prime minister and the Governor General receive an automatic security detail, a policy that is not extended to any of the other federal party leaders.
“We have to draw the line somewhere," said security expert Larry Busch, who was in charge of the RCMP's VIP security section for Ontario. "We base our risk assessments on history as well. Given the fact that we’ve had very few acts or violent acts against any previously sitting prime ministers or members of Parliament, that would be taken into consideration.
"We have to consider, OK, if we’re going to do this, who is going to pay for it?”
An exception is made during a federal election campaign, when the opposition party leaders are given security protection.
"During the election, the RCMP provides a full detail," former Opposition Leader Michael Ignatieff said in an email to CBC News. "Otherwise, no security."
"When in our Parliament Hill offices, I did have security, as I discovered when I inadvertently pressed a button on my office, on the first day, and had Hill police in the office in 90 seconds," he said.
Israel launches fresh air strikes in Gaza in response to rocket fire
Temporary ceasefire in jeopardy after rockets are fired from Gaza, sparking swift response from Israel
The temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was in jeopardy on Tuesday after rockets were fired from Gaza, triggering a swift military and political response from Israel.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said it was targeting "terror sites across the Gaza Strip" in retaliation, and the prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, ordered his negotiating team to pull out of talks to find a durable ceasefire agreement in Cairo.
Gaza has been relatively quiet for the past eight days as two successive ceasefires have been in place to allow negotiations to be conducted. A further 24-hour ceasefire – due to expire at midnight on Tuesday – was agreed in Cairo late on Monday night.
Israel accused Hamas of breaching the ceasefire after three rockets fell near the city of Be'er Sheva in southern Israel. There were no reports of casualties or damage.
Lt Col Peter Lerner, an IDF spokesperson, said: "Yet again, terrorists breach the ceasefire and renew fire at Israeli civilians from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. This continued aggression will be addressed accordingly by the IDF; we will continue striking terror infrastructure, pursuing terrorists, and eliminating terror capabilities in the Gaza Strip, in order to restore security for the state of Israel."
Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman, hinted at more rocket fire. "If Netanyahu doesn't understand … the language of politics in Cairo, we know how to make him understand," he said according to the Israeli news website Ynet.
However, it was not clear whether a significant return to hostilities was imminent, or if the renewed military exchanges would prove to be short-lived.
